Literary Surprises in Rankin’s Edinburgh

Since March this year someone has been leaving little literary presents all around my old beloved stomping ground of Edinburgh.

Thesestunning little sculptures, made from works by Ian Rankin, or referencing Rankin’s work in some other way have been left at various literary and arts venues with little notes of appreciation.

They have been left at the National Library of Scotland, the Scottish Poetry Library, the one pictured was left at the Filmhouse theatre and another was left in the Robert Louis Stevenson room at the Scottish Storytelling Centre (must visit that next time I go).

Read the initial stories in the Scotsman here and here and a more recent one with numerous images in the Seattle PI.

Seems to me there couldn’t be a nicer tribute to Ian Rankin, literature or the arts.
