In the September edition the cover story next year’s big literary theme, the National Year of Reading 2012. Next year will see all sorts of literary activities happening all around Australia promoting the joy of reading to Australians of all ages and backgrounds. Follow the link at the right of this blog for more information about the national campaign and keep your eyes and ears open for what Blue Mountains City Library will be doing – staff are cooking up some great events for 2012.

As usual there are the regular GR reatures : Book Trivia, Books of the Month, Word of Mouth book reviews, Caught Reading.

In Me my shelf I we meet Anne McCormick of Hordern House, an antiquarian book shop. What does Anne read?  Who didn’t love Charlotte’s Web as a child? Well, Behind the Book gives us the background to that beloved book.  Staying with children’s literature, Andy Griffiths talks about his writing workshops with indigenous children in remote communities and Book Bite gives us an excerpt from Storm Over Kokoda by Peter Ewer.

Where can you read this wondrous material? In the September edition of Goodreading magazine available through the library either in print (ask staff to reserve a copy for you) or online here – all you have to do is enter your Blue Mountains Library card number and you’re in.
