Yesterday and today eager knitters and sewers at Lawson and Springwood Libraries have been beavering away knitting woollen squares and sewing them into blankets for the charity, Wrap With Love. It’s all part of a state-wide event sponsored by ABC 702 radio. Wrap With Love sends knitted blankets to provide warmth and comfort to people in 75 countries.
Another Knit In will be taking place at Lawson Library on Wednesday 15 August – all welcome.
Between the two sites an incredible 21 wraps have been completed so far.
The wraps will be sent to Wrap With Love but not for a few weeks, so if you have wraps that you haven’t yet completed you can still get them finished.
If anybody handy with a sewing needle feels they need a project, the ladies at Springwood Library this morning spent a fair bit of time sorting the knitted squares by size and putting them into bundles of 28 (4 squares by 7 squares) ready for sewing together. Anyone is welcome to come and take a bundle or two and deliver it back when they can.
Springwood Library hosts a regular mini Knit In on the first Friday of each month from 10am and Lawson Library has a regular knitting group that meets on the third Wednesday of each month. Ask in either library for more information.
