Inky Awards 2012

The winners of the 2012 Inky Awards were announced a few days ago. These awards go to books for Young Adults and are voted on by Young Adults. 

The Gold Inky, which is awarded to an Australian author, was won by John Green for The Fault in Our Stars.

Here is what the judges said : 

  • Probably my favourite book of them all. – Elizabeth
  • I just wanted to eat John Green’s words up!  – Danielle Binks
  • LOVED IT!!! Made me cry! – Fergus

Shortlisted for the Gold Inky were :

  • Shift by Em Bailey
  • Night Beach by Kirsty Eagar
  • Act of Faith by Kelly Gardiner
  • Queen of the Night by Leanne Hall
  • The Reluctant Hallelujah by Gabrielle Williams

The Silver Inky, awarded to an International author was won by Em Bailey for Shift

Judges comments :

  • I found Shift very original and Miranda one of the creepiest creations in YA for a while. – James Moloney
  • It was a lethal book to read! It took me two days, but I still had the nightmare of being forced off a roof for a week post finishing! – Nicole
  • Very, very, very creepy! – Joe
