‘Live Life’ Portraits 2013

This was the second year that the Blue Mountains City Library held the ‘Live Life’ Portrait Competition for young adults. Spanning both NSW Seniors Week and Youth Week, the competition asked for creative youths (aged 15-21yrs) to produce a portrait of a senior from the Blue Mountains region – along with the story behind the picture.

This exciting project brings seniors and youths together in a positive and creative way – aiming to bridge the generation-gap through art. The portrait competition coincided with both Seniors Week and Youth Week this year.  The artworks you see in this exhibit celebrate elder wisdom and experience through the eyes of local youth. The results are moving, vibrant and life-affirming.

The winners of the competition this year were:

1st: ‘Still Life’ by Eliza Tweeddale

2nd: ‘Portrait of Ronnie’ by Rachel Frew

3rd: ‘Nanna’s Life’ by Monica-Rose Van De Luecht.

Thank you to those who entered the competition this year – as you can see, the quality was very high.
