Jason Foster @ Blaxland Library
Posted by Librarians with Altitude
What a busy month we have planned here at Blue Mountains City Library! In November, as well as the Lawson Booksale at the Love Lawson Festival (on Saturday 16 November, 2013), and Poetry Under the Stars in the Courtyard at Katoomba Library (on Friday 29 November, 2013), we have two great author talks for you! We have already posted about the talk with Walter Mason, at Katoomba Library on Saturday 16 November, 2013, at 2pm.
This post is to let you know about our other fantastic event, with local author Jason Foster. Jason will be at Blaxland Library on Saturday 23 November, 2013, to share about his latest book, The Dark Man: Australia’s first serial killer. This is an incredible true story, describing the crimes of notorious killer Frank Butler, and of how he was brought to justice. Familiar Blue Mountains settings will never seem quite the same once you have heard the details of the murders committed here in 1896. Three men, responding to newspaper advertisements in the hope of finding their fortune in the gold fields out west, are lured into inhospitable terrain and murdered by a cold-blooded killer. But that is only half the story… Once their bodies are finally discovered, an epic manhunt begins to find and convict their executioner. The hunt will take Australian police all the way to America in the pursuit of justice.
Come along to hear more of this fascinating tale. Afternoon tea will provided, and there will be copies of The Dark Man available for purchase on the day. This is a free event, but bookings are appreciated. Call 4739 4284 or see library staff at any branch.
