The Blue Mountains Branch of the Fellowship of Australian Writers, NSW Inc., are launching a new Anthology of poetry and prose, in celebration of the group’s 40th year since formation, as well as being a contribution to the bicentenary celebrations of the crossing of the mountains by Blaxland, Lawson and Wentworth. The Fellowship of Australian Writers was established in 1928 by a group including Mary Gilmore, Steel Rudd and John le Gay Brereton. The objective of the group was to support Australian writers, and the commitment of the group today remains to nurture and develop new writing talent.
On Thursday April 3, 2014, at 2pm at Katoomba Library, Journeys: an Anthology will be launched by Professor Ian Jack. Professor Jack is senior fellow and college archivist at St Andrew’s College, Sydney University. 2014 Australian Bush Laureate winner Greg North will also be reciting some of his award winning poetry at the Launch.
This is a FREE event, and everyone is welcome to attend. There will be afternoon tea provided, and also the opportunity to purchase a copy of the book.
Bookings are appreciated, and can be made by phoning 4780 5750 or contacting staff at any Library branch.
