Susan Boyer Author Talk
Author, researcher and English language teacher, Susan Boyer will be at
Blaxland Library on Saturday 24 May, 2014 from 2pm
to share about her latest book,
Across Great Divides: True stories of life at Sydney Cove.
Heralded by the History Council of New South Wales as “a journey into the hearts and minds of those who experienced life in Australia’s first colony” and “the story of worlds colliding”, this is an important publication about Australia’s beginnings. Susan examines this world from a range of perspectives, including those of convict men such as James Ruse and William Bryant, convict women Esther Abrahams and Ann Inett, military men, and the Aboriginal peoples who were challenged by the unexpected arrival of an alien race.
Christopher Tobin, Aboriginal artist and Darug cultural consultant, has praised this book, saying- ‘This is a very readable, extremely interesting telling of important stories.’
Susan will have copies of Across Great Divides available for purchase on the day, and will be available afterwards for book signings. Afternoon tea will also be provided.
To book for this event, please phone Blaxland Library on 4739 4284 or speak to staff at any Library branch.
